ANA M. VALLADARES
In 2007 Ana founded Destinations in Design, LLC, a company providing educational programs for the professional development of Architects and Interior Designers. A Broward County resident for more than 20 years, Ms. Valladares arrived in South Florida with her husband, Fredo and children Cecilia and Tomas after living and working in Germany and Italy. With a degree in museum administration and curatorship, Ms. Valladares has worked with prestigious local and international art institutions, including 15 years with Nylon Polymer a Fortune 500 manufacturer in the US.
A long time community activist, Ms. Valladares has been a dedicated advocate for children by participating in many different initiatives geared to enhance children's lives. As a founding member of the ESOL parent advisory at the Broward County School Board, she was elected and became the first advisory chairperson for this grassroots organization, presenting recommendations to the school board from the multicultural parent and student community in order to improve the quality of program instruction and services.
In 2001 she was appointed by then Gov. Jeb Bush to the newly created Children's Services Council of Broward County. In 2007 she was reappointed by Gov. Charlie Crist.
In June 2009 Ms. Valladares was elected President of the Board of Trustees of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Southern Florida the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. Ms. Valladares has served as co-chair of the Broward Immigration Coalition and has been involved with Broward's Legislative Agenda through Broward Days. Ms. Valladares is also one of the recipients of the 2003 Heart Award by the Children's Consortium of Broward and in 2004 was recognized as one of Broward's Hispanic Women of Distinction.
